Man claims to be pregnant to get off work. What could possibly go wrong? @ 09:52 pm

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is my favorite new show this season. Everyone seems to be raving about Heroes which is also a great show, but I think I like Studio 60 better. If you haven't seen Studio 60 yet I highly recommend checking it out.

It was created by Aaron Sorkin who also created West Wing. The basic premise of the show is behind the scenes of a weekly live comedy show (think SNL). The writing is great, the acting is great, and the characters are pretty compelling. Mathew Perry is actually surprisingly good, and only slightly similar to his character on Friends. Check it out.

I'm watching both; Studio 60 is definitely superior. It's not perfect, and it tries a little (ok, a lot) too hard, but it's still mostly witty and clever and fast-paced, and probably one of the densest shows (in terms of the amount of stuff they pack into every episode - plot and dialogue and characterization). If anything, it'd probably only improve if the cast and crew relaxed and enjoyed it a little more.

Heroes is a nice idea with mediocre to weak execution (read: writing, acting, directing). It's better in theory than in reality, which is why I'm amazed by how many people do rant about it. Maybe they've just been pining away for the idea of a mainstream superhero-type show.

However, Friday Night Lights beats them both. And if you're willing to veer off of network TV, Dexter has become an awesome show - it started off good but not great, but has gotten better and better with each episode.

I watched one episode of Studio 60 but the time/night they are on is bad for me. I need to try to fit that into our schedule again, I guess, along with Friday Night Lights, which our daughter raves about.

We have been watching both Heroes and Studio 60. If you like Aaron Sorkin you should check out sports night. We wrote that be he did the West Wing it only lasted 2 season's I think. Sports Night kind of has the feel of Studio 60 you can see Aaron in the writing.

Sounds like the plot to 30 Rock.
