Fax machines are the testicles of just about any company. @ 08:29 pm

So I like to read. I like to read all kinds of things. Anyway one of the things I've never read in my whole life is a romance novel. I've always passed them off as extremely silly and trite, but that seems like a fairly harsh judgement considering I've never read one. In honor of Saint Valentine and the holiday of his namesake I've decided to cross that bridge. Thus I'm asking you good folks out there in LiveJournal land to recommend a "romance novel" that's worth reading. They can't all be bad right? Actually I don't care if it is bad, I just want something thats representative of genre as a whole.

I want to be able to say that I have read a romance novel. I think that's the last big genre I need to cover. So I'll take any suggestions you have for me. Is this even a worthwhile endeavour, or should I skip the romance genre all together? What do I need to know about romance novels? Are their sub-genres inside? I know there are pseudo-porn stories, and straight romance, and mystery romance, etc. Should I stick to one of those? I'm the first to admit my knowledge of this subject is about zero.

Go for a zombie action kung-fu romance. Those are the best.

the best romance novel i've ever read was "welcome to temptation" by jennifer cruise. Not only is there sex and love, but murder and comedy, as well. She is the best romance novelist i've read. i fact, her newest works are not found in the romance section anymore, but in the fiction section.
