Instead of collecting rotting garbage, French city sprays it with perfume @ 09:28 am

So I've been reading The Stand for probably the last month and a half. I'd seen the mini-series when it was on TV a long time ago and I really liked it. I'd just never got around to reading the 1100+ page tome. So finally decided to pick it up and it's a phenomenal book. I never would have imagined I would be wish that a book would be longer than 1100 but I do!

It's weird though, usually you pick up certain little things reading a book that the movie or TV just can't quite show you. The mini-series does the same thing to the book, it really expands on a lot of the book. Both are excellent.

I remember how excited you were when that mini-series was first on TV, back in our freshman year of HS. I thought you had read the book. I have.

I liked it, but then it got to preachy at the end with the god stuff. I just like the post apocalyptic stuff. I think I would be awesome in a world like that. I have the survivor luck.

I totally remember you reading that in High School. Mr. Stiff's class. In fact I remember you handing me the book when Lloyd masturbates so he can fall asleep.

Don't ask me why I remember that. I just remember thinking it was weird that you had me read that one part.

I read the book a long time ago, probably long before I should have. Recently I tried to push through it again, but it's too much to go through again. Truly a shame, because I'm sure I missed a hell of a lot on the first run.

part of it is knowing what happens, but the biggest thing is that the characters aren't the same as my earlier self pictured them.
