Concertgoer gets fractured skull from flying sheep head @ 02:20 pm

So I login to my server here at work with 450+ days of uptime today. I check the uptime on it and it's seven days!!! ARGH! I lost my uptime. I did some checking and all of my monitoring software seems to indicate that the box did NOT reboot. I did some digging and it appears that the Linux Kernel (2.2 and 2.4) cannot handle uptimes of more than 497ish days. After that it rolls over and starts at 0 again.

I found an interesting article about why it does this. Those Linux kernel guys are totally hardcore!

Take current uptime and add 497 :)
