themabbi, gorgonous and I went to a Canby Planning Committee to see what it was like. They want to split the lot across the street from me into two lots so I went to hear what they have to say. I'm for it because the gigantic covered area that's there now (It's two cars deep, and six cars wide) is pretty unnecessary. Before we got to that part we had about four thousand old people complain about not being able to hear the panel members talking, or about how people drive too fast in their neighborhoods. It was a total, "you damn kids get off my lawn" moment. Classic.

At one point Ben leaned over to me and said that were we about a half second away from a Springer moment. It was surprisingly lively for a Canby Planning Committee meeting. Ultimately it looks like the developers have a pretty case to split the lot into to as it passed with a 5-0 vote. Now it's just a matter of time until the paperwork gets filed and destruction can begin.
