I just asked my buddy ntang for his opinion of The Gates in Central Park. He informed me that they're taking them down. They just went up! He said that they had a two week agreement, and now they're coming down. They apparently cost New York tax payers $27 million dollars. Let's do a little math shall we?

60 seconds a minute
60 minutes an hour
24 hours a day
14 days up

That's 1209600 seconds. Now assuming the cost of The Gates was $27 million that works out to $22.32 per second that those gates were up. I sure hope you New Yorkers got your money's worth!

Update: ntang informs me that it as NOT tax payer money, but the artist's own money. Still...
