Mailing list silliness @ 07:43 am

On a recent email to a mailing list I'm on...

Size of email: 328 bytes
Size of bogus disclaimer after email: 939

Why do people put those "This message is intended only for the use of the individual..." bogus signatures on their email. If you send me an email it's and I receive it any bogus legalese beyond that isn't going to hold water. Especially when the email is sent to a public email list, which is archived/searchable forever thanks to Google.

Not to mention that you're stupid disclaimer is three times larger than your actual email!

It's stupid lawyers. We have one at work that we argued vehemently against. The lawyers think it somehow covers their asses. It's all very stupid.

Well if it ended up in my box isn't it "for" me? Unless the greeting says "Dear Mr. Smith" how am I supposed to know it isn't "for" me. I hate lawyers.
