Reading backwards! @ 05:00 pm

The more emails I get, the more people I see top-posting and it drives me crazy! It's totally counter intuitive to how we normally read. When you reply to an email and you quote the original email you should put your reply under the quoted section. That way when I get the email I can read all the previous replies in order (top to bottom like a book) and THEN see your response. It's just logical.

Instead I get all these top posted emails with three pages worth of back story to read. So I have to scroll all the way to the bottom to start reading. I read one paragraph, and then scroll up to read the next reply, and then scroll up again... Ugh! People don't read that way!

I top post when I know the person I've been talking with can remember the email conversation so there isn't much of a reason to look back at previous emails other than to quote or to refresh ones memory of tidbits of information. Because most people I know whom I send emails to don't want to scroll all the way to the bottom of the email if they already know the contents of the rest of the email. :P

I prefer bottom posting only when everyone has a bottom posting mail client, and people have the discipline to trim out irrelevant quotation. So basically only in mailing lists and usenet groups full of nerds. I haven't really cared for years since the effort always ends up being lost.

Netiquette hasn't really existed since the masses got on the internet. That's evidenced by the emails and tickets we get that are in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, EVEN THOUGH NOBODY IS YELLING. The best are the all caps emails that are 100% in the subject line.

All caps, indented paragraphs, obvious lack of effort in spelling/grammar and unnecessary use of HTML/images bugs me more than top posting.

I agree, which is why myspace is the worst site on the internet. Its a breeding ground for all of the above, and so much more.
