Everything is crazier in Texas @ 09:54 am

What is wrong with Texas!?! Digg.com just linked this video that shows video of Texas law makers voting multiple times on different issues. I've never seen anything like this. Who says politician's aren't corrupt!

What they're doing is proxy voting, and it's with the knowledge of the person who's button they're pushing. Some legislative bodies allow this and some don't. A legislator has to be present to vote at the Federal level, but many State bodies allow them to designate another legislator to cast their vote for them if they'll be away for the vote.

It sounds like in Texas it's not allowed by the rules but they're doing it anyway. That's a problem, but it's not a huge deal. Voting records are tracked by all kinds of lobbyists and donors. A legislator's office knows exactly what their boss's voting record is, there would be all kinds of hell raised if someone cast a proxy vote for them they didn't ask for.

Correct and well said, themabbi. The Texas Legislature actually does quite well despite the fact that there are a few archaic rules left over from the days of the Republic.
