"Hello, my name is Jae-hwan, and I'll be your oppressor today" @ 06:09 pm

Since Angie has the culinary skills to make everything from a bbq pork chops to delicious chocolate chip cookies yet lacks the skills to make rice I will post the "recipe" here for posterity.

Ingredients:
1 Cup Rice
1 1/3 Cup Water

Directions:
Combine rice and water in a pot. Heat water to a rolling boil (approximately 5 minutes). When a rolling boil has been reached turn the heat down to the lowest setting and place a lid on the pot. Let the rice "stew" for 15 - 20 minutes stirring every 10 minutes to make sure the rice is cooked evenly.

Important things *not* to do: leave the lid off so the water boils off, leave the heat too high after the water has boiled, smoke crack cocaine.

Or: 1 cup Uncle Ben's Converted Rice
2 cups water
Place in covered microwaveable casserole in microwave for 12 minutes on HIGH. Let stand for 5 minutes to let rice absorb water. Fluff with fork.

This is absolutely fail proof!

The rice. If you rinse it with water before cooking it, it washes off the excess starch. Makes it not stick to the pan and burn the bottom layer.

Wild... I never even would have thought to wash the rice. Never had a problem, that would just add an extra step. And I really can't be bothered to add a step, three steps is my limit.

You lost me at "pot." With the advent of the rice cooker, I have never seen rice cooked on stovetop ... ever.

Rice cookers seem like SO overkill to me. Like they developed this whole machine to cook rice for you, but cooking rice is super easy. That'd be like someone developing a shoe tying machine. Why!

actually a really important and sensible tip from me for once, treat cooked rice like raw meat, dont leave it sit too long, put it in a sealed container in the fridge asap, and dont leave sat around. You can get some nasty bugs from it check this out:
