Tara Reid: "My hooters are under control" @ 09:09 pm

A month or so ago Subway stopped accepting their "Sub Club" stamps. You got one stamp per sandwich you bought, and if you collected eight they gave you a free sandwich. Good deal, or so I thought, until they cancelled it. It looks like the reason they cancelled it was due to fraud! Wired has a whole article on the fraud involved with the Sub Club. Pretty crazy that people would go to that much trouble to rip Subway off for a $4 sandwich.

The good news is that it sounds like they may bring back some sort of electronic card system. That would be really cool! I love Subway and the Sub Club was just another reason to go back.

I guess a bunch of the Subways up in Seattle do the electronic card thing. The one by the convention center in Bellevue does. Sounds fucking cool to me.

And then it occurs to me how cool it would be to haxx0r it so you and all your buddies had the same card number. Free sandwiches a lot more often!

They talk about a magnetic swipe card, but that seems like it's overkill. What's wrong with just a simple barcode. I guess that would require all the Subway's to be online with a single database, but still. I'm thinking a unique ID for each customer would be easier.

Every subway under the sun already has a magstripe reader, so it's probably cheaper. My understanding is that the card is just like a credit card, it only has your ID on it and the reader talks to the central server for the transaction.

Oh yeah, totally. But I doubt they think of that.

No, the need to bring back the stamps, otherwise the 4 I've got in my wallet right now are worthless! I've got a free sandwitch coming to me, you bastards!

My local subway is still doing a thing where you get a discount for stamps... I think it might end at the end of September, though.

It takes eight to get a free sandwich. You might be able to get a free tomato with four stamps, but don't even think about asking for mustard.
